Random Cooking Chemistry: Pear & Goat Cheese Crostini

Merry 2013! Happy New Years!  I have ze internet!!!!!  How exciting right?  Well, to commemorate joining the modern age again I wanted to reward the readers with an awesome recipe.

Now, because I have a small distance between my school and my residence I like to make recipes that will give me a chance to have a lunch that is quick…..and will hold me over until my midday snack.  This is exactly that recipe! And though it sounds light, 5 crostini’s and a baby rocket salad are the perfect serving size for a small lunch.

Note: Recipe yields 15 Crostini’s (I like to cut 5 fresh for each lunch)

  • 1 small baguette
  • 1 pear, sliced thinly
  • 3-4 oz. of goat cheese
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • Olive oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian seasoning

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Slice the baguette into 1 inch thick slices.  Brush with olive oil then season both sides with the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and italian seasoning.

2.  Toast the sliced baguettes in the oven for about 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

3.  Top the crostini with goat cheese, pear slices and then drizzle honey over the top. (Note: I promise you won’t regret the honey!)

Well, I’m off to class!  Have a wonderful Monday!
