Hey Guys! I’m kind of excited about this post because I will be talking about one of the ways I deal with my love/hate relationship with glasses, buying awesome frames! I don’t have the worst eyesight in the world, but let’s just say that if I go without wearing my glasses, I will most likely run into something. I’ve tried contacts, but I hate the way they feel so glasses will be my best friend until I miraculously wake up with 20/20 vision. Now, being the spirited person that I am, I refuse to wear boring things on pretty much all occasions so when I was introduced to yet another mail order prescription glasses website, named Firmoo, I got super excited. After making sure they were legit, I ordered two pairs of glasses and let’s just say… I think I’m in love. Don’t get me wrong, there were some definite negatives but there were a lot of great things that spoke to me and that’s why I wanted to write the review. So let’s get to it.
When I was ordering the glasses, I was a little annoyed at how quickly the website kicked me out of my account on multiple occasions, so definitely browse before you login. However, annoying website aside, the selection was great and if you know exactly the style that you want, you can cut your time on the site tremendously. Now, Warby Parker has some great styles that I absolutely love, but I need bifocals and there is no way in hell I’m spending an extra $200. So, the first thing that I loved about Firmoo was that it only costs an extra $36 to get the progressive bifocals add-on and the necessities for a good pair of glasses were all included. Another negative that I found was that the deals weren’t very clear, so I ended up with a balance higher than I expected. Thankfully, I just moved some things around in my budget and it all worked out. As much as I love ordering new specs, I love the idea behind the at home Try-On feature at Warby Parker… but, since Firmoo is based in China, that’s not really an option. On that note, though it was based in China, the glasses shipped super fast and showed up in a week. This is a plus in my book because it was much faster than ProOpticals which took about a month. Now, last but not least, the quality. The glasses were just as sturdy if not more than my other glasses that were three times the cost. They had a great weight behind them and the metal on both of my pairs was not flimsy and didn’t give me a feeling that they would break.
If you follow me on instagram, you can obviously tell the black pair is my favorite pair, but all in all, I think it’s a hassle free and cost effective option for bifocal wearers that want to look stylish. Let’s make a pros and cons list to sum up all my babbling, shall we?
- It costs $36 for bifocals….not $200 (Thanks, Warby)
- The add-ons are truly add-ons, not necessities that cost more
- Very sturdy, good quality
- Shipped fast even with custom order
- Order Placed: 2/12/2015
- Order Shipped: 2/15/2015
- Order Received: 2/19/2015
- The quality is the best I’ve found compared to my other custom order glasses shops
- They don’t have a try on feature
- The deals are never stated properly (Is it 50% off full order or 50% off the frames?) GIVE ME YOUR SECRETS!
- Website is annoying, times out too fast
All in all, if you’re all about having extra pairs of glasses with fun frames, then Firmoo is a great option. This is especially true if you need bifocals. Other than the website being annoying, it’s very cost effective when compared to other companies and they have a Firmoo’s First Pair Free Program if you are new to the company. I really hope this post helped anyone looking for fun frames. Stay tuned for more sneak peeks and recipes!
